Third Man Utd signing named – Fabrizio Romano confirms Ten Hag has greenlighted €40m Newcastle transfer hijack

Manchester United are set to complete the signing of Axel Disasi from Monaco after Fabrizio Romano offered an update on Erik ten Hag's transfer plans.

The manager of the Red Devils has begun phase two of his United reconstruction project. And, having led the club to third place last season, they are now trying to reduce the gap with all-conquering Manchester City at the top. Ten Hag also wants United to make a big statement when they return to the Champions League.

To begin, Mason Mount joined in a £55 million trade from Chelsea. Ten Hag’s addition adds a lot of versatility to the midfield and attack.

Andre Onana, a new goalie, is expected to join shortly. United will pay around £47 million for David De Gea’s replacement, with a deal with Inter Milan nearing completion. Rio Ferdinand, though, delivered a harsh warning to Manchester United before Onana’s signing.

A new striker was thought to be the next in line. Ten Hag, on the other hand, needs more central defensive cover, with Eric Bailly poised to follow Harry Maguire in leaving.

Finding a customer for the latter is still a problem. However, the first stage in the England defender’s departure is begun, with allegations that he has been stripped of the United captaincy.

According to Romano, the Red Devils are getting close to signing Disasi.

The France defender is regarded as one of the league’s greatest center-halves. Raphael Varane has endorsed him after seeing him perform on the international level with France.

Ten Hag signs Axel Disasi for Manchester United.
Ten Hag has committed to signing Disasi after losing first-choice target Kim Min-jae to Bayern Munich.

Indeed, discussions with the 25-year-old and his camp have been continuing for several weeks.

However, with concerns growing over United’s budget and the club’s need for a new striker, it appeared like the purchase of Disasi would fall through the cracks.

As a result, Newcastle was said to be in pole position to sign the 6ft 3in defender, who can also play right back.

To that end, Eddie Howe’s side were willing to pay the £34.2m (€40m) sum demanded by Monaco.

The Red Devils, on the other hand, are ready to follow through on their initial interest. And Romano provided an update on the matter, with Ten Hag strongly supporting his signing.

“Newcastle and Manchester United are both exploring Disasi deals, no bids yet,” Romano explained.

“Newcastle approached the player side this week, and Monaco is expected to contact them.”

“Ten Hag approved Disasi – talks on the player side have been ongoing for weeks, but we are still waiting for an approach from Monaco.”

Man United’s summer transfer activity is far from over.
According to Metro, United’s first priority will be to finalize the signing of Onana. However, once it is completed, Disasi appears to be the next to arrive.

However, the arrival of the talented defender will not be the last of the summer. Once the transaction is completed, they will focus on finding a new striker. Rasmus Hojlund of Atalanta remains the favorite, with an expected fee of €60 million.

Randal Kolo Muani is also a target for the Red Devils. However, his €100 million fee appears to be significantly more troublesome. And their chances of acquiring the France striker are solely dependent on the club selling a number of unwanted talents.

Ten Hag’s summer budget is said to be £120 million, with any additional coming from player sales.

Deals for Onana and Mount alone account for £102. The addition of Disasi brings the club’s summer expenditure total to £136 million. As a result, the identity of their striker signing may be entirely dependent on how much extra money United can earn in the meantime.
