‘Very good’: Ten Hag names three Man United youngsters who’ve really impressed him in pre-season

Erik ten Hag praised the performances of a slew of Manchester United youngsters as they defeated Leeds 2-0 in their first pre-season friendly.

The manager of the Red Devils fielded two completely different lineups in each half, and it was during the second 45 minutes that a full team of academy starlets had their chance to shine. Despite the fact that star players such as Raphael Varane, Mason Mount, and Jadon Sancho started the game, it was the younger players that got the job done for Manchester United in Oslo, Norway.

Goals from Noam Emeran and Joe Hugill sealed the victory, impressing Ten Hag, who will shortly decide who he will take on tour to the United States. “We saw some good things and some good stuff,” the Dutchman said after the game to MUTV.

“We’ve already trained like this for the past year, and you can see it in our play.” The youthful players complemented our style of play. They demonstrated our norms and beliefs to us today.

“They come in, and it’s a big moment when you make the first team.” You deserve game time; you’ve worked so hard for so long, and now you have it. “The game was won by two of those players.”

The more well-known names, like center-backs Lisandro Martinez and Varane, appeared a little rusty at the Ullevaal Stadium. “Licha is still on his way back – he worked very hard over the summer, and you can see he has a small lack of rhythm,” Ten Hag said. “But he and Rapha complement each other so well.”

“Rapha has a wonderful personality. Even though we all know what he has already accomplished with Real Madrid and France, he has been incredible from the time I met him. He has so much regard for everyone, and the fans admire him just as much as we do.”
