Unbelievable – McCarthy and Fernandes react to Man United new signing announcement today

Manchester United were anxious to sign Marcus Rashford to a new deal after he scored 30 goals last season.

The agreement was ultimately revealed Friday night, with director John Murtough praising Rashford as a ‘great player’ on the club website.

Rashford’s new contract extends his deal until 2028, giving the club much-needed certainty about his future.

Marcus Rashford’s transaction lauded

On social media, Diogo Dalot and Raphael Varane were the first to congratulate Marcus Rashford on his new deal.

Lisandro Martinez quickly followed, as did Manchester United striker coach Benni McCarthy, who tweeted ‘Congratulations buddy’.

McCarthy has been widely credited for helping Rashford regain his form, and he will be relieved to know he will be around for the long term.

There was also a greeting from Bruno Fernandes of Portugal, who sent a statement on his Instagram Stories.

‘Well deserved youngster!’ wrote Fernandes. This is your home,’ he said to his teammate. The pair have had a solid relationship on the pitch since he signed from Sporting, and it’s fantastic that they’ll be able to keep it going.
