After being internally suspended since January 2022, the striker had rape and sexual assault allegations dropped earlier this year in February.

On August 16, it was reported that Man United staff had been advised to prepare for Greenwood’s possible return to first-team training.

According to rumors, Ten Hag is eager for the 21-year-old to return to the club.

However, when asked by media on Friday, the Red Devils boss refused to share his thoughts on the topic.

“We’re not where we want to be with our team. A lot of focus on my team, so focus on the players who are available,” Ten Hag explained.

“All I have are statements about our performance.”

“I am very focused on my team, so I concentrate on the players who are available.”

“With our team, we are not where we want to be. I must do everything possible to get the team to perform.”

Ten Hag remained tight-lipped when asked if he had spoken to Greenwood throughout the probe.

“I’m focused on the current squad and the players who are available,” he said again.

United issued a statement regarding Greenwood, claiming the striker had done nothing wrong.

Nonetheless, they had agreed that it would be best if he departed the club.

“All those involved, including Mason, recognize the difficulties with him resuming his career at Manchester United,” the statement said.

“It has therefore been mutually agreed that it would be most appropriate for him to do so away from Old Trafford, and we will now work with Mason to achieve that outcome.”

Greenwood also issued a statement, which stated in part, “Today’s decision has been part of a collaborative process between Manchester United, my family, and me.”

Greenwood has already been connected with clubs such as an unknown Albanian squad, while a feud with Cristiano Ronaldo appears to have put a damper on a Saudi Arabian transfer.

United host Nottingham Forest at Old Trafford on Saturday, needing a win after a poor performance against Tottenham last week.

They will, however, be missing Luke Shaw, who is expected to be sidelined for a longer period of time than first anticipated due to an injury.
