After acquiring a 27.7% stake in the club, Ratcliffe and INEOS are implementing major changes across various departments and taking control of football operations.

Ratcliffe is investing £1 billion into the club, with INEOS colleagues Sir Dave Brailsford and Jean-Claude Blanc assisting in a comprehensive restructuring effort.

United will have just over £35 million to spend and plan to sell several first-team players as part of this overhaul.

According to Neil Custis from The Sun, Ratcliffe has introduced five new rules that will guide United’s transfer strategy.

Despite winning the FA Cup final against Manchester City, Erik ten Hag’s future at Old Trafford remains uncertain. Whoever is in charge next season will need to adhere to these rules.

  1. Age Limit for New Signings: Only players under 25 will be considered for new signings, eliminating the possibility of ‘Galactico’ transfers.
  2. No Big-Money Deals: Transfers like the £70 million deal for Casemiro from Real Madrid will not happen under the new policy.
  3. Manager’s Role in Transfers: The manager, whether it’s Ten Hag or someone else, will not have the final say on specific players. Instead, they will identify positions that need strengthening.
  4. Shortlist of Candidates: INEOS will handle the initial groundwork for potential signings, presenting the manager with a shortlist of three candidates to choose from.
  5. Defined Style of Play: Technical director Jason Wilcox, formerly of Manchester City and Southampton, will establish a clear playing philosophy. Omar Berrada, another former City employee, has joined Wilcox, and the club hopes to bring in Dan Ashworth from Newcastle as well.

These changes signify a new direction for Manchester United under Ratcliffe’s leadership.
