According to Mundo Deportivo, despite the fact that many bidders from the English Premier League, including Arsenal and Manchester City, were associated with his talents, Newcastle was the one who took the risk to complete a transaction.

United then made a bid, with Erik ten Hag attempting to ‘lure him in’ with Cristiano Ronaldo’s future still looking extremely uncertain with only two days left in the market.

However, after making a ‘juicy offer’ to Isak, his advisors advised him to reject a move to Old Trafford and instead join the Newcastle revolution.

Sociedad was ‘informed’ of United’s offer to Isak, though no formal bid was submitted, and thus his move to St. James Park grew closer.

With Callum Wilson and Chris Wood to contend with while also being able to play on the left-hand side, it makes sense for Isak to have gone to play under Eddie Howe if he is to flourish outside of United, where players’ careers have historically suffered.
