Under the management of Erik ten Hag, Manchester United has faced challenges in the early stages of the season, with lackluster performances in the Premier League, Champions League, and Carabao Cup.

Despite the team’s struggles, ten Hag has sparingly utilized van de Beek, suggesting that the midfielder’s destiny may lie away from the club.

Van de Beek, once hailed with anticipation upon joining from Ajax in September 2020, has failed to make a significant impact in his three-year tenure at Manchester United.

Despite scoring on his Premier League debut, his playing time has been limited under the management of Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, Ralf Rangnick, and ten Hag.

During the 2023 summer transfer window, van de Beek had opportunities to depart Old Trafford but opted to stay.

However, the 26-year-old now appears to be an outcast at Manchester United, falling down the pecking order behind players like Casemiro, Bruno Fernandes, Scott McTominay, and Hannibal Mejbri.

Lorient reportedly rejected the chance to sign van de Beek on Deadline Day due to concerns about his attitude toward the club, as he initially declined to engage in discussions with the Ligue 1 outfit but later reconsidered as the window’s closure approached.
