Return Date Announced – Man Utd star spotted leaving MetLife stadium on crutches after Arsenal friendly

Manchester United may be without one of its key prospects, Amad Diallo, for the remainder of their US tour after the player was injured in a brief second-half cameo against rivals Arsenal.

Following Saturday’s 2-0 preseason triumph against Premier League championship contenders Arsenal, Amad exited the MetLife Stadium on crutches.

The Red Devils won the tense match courtesy of goals from Bruno Fernandes and Jadon Sancho in the first half. Erik ten Hag’s players took advantage of individual errors in Arsenal’s defensive half to defeat their long-standing rivals.

Man United’s afternoon was marred by the withdrawal of one of its dynamic stars following a 13-minute replacement cameo.

Amad, 21, who had a successful loan spell at Sunderland last season, came on in the second half but went down under no contact, which will be a source of concern for Ten Hag and his team.

According to the Manchester Evening News, Amad suffered an ankle/Achilles injury, effectively ending his chance to impress Ten Hag against Premier League opposition. To make matters worse for Manchester United, he was seen walking out of the MetLife Stadium on crutches.

It is unknown where Amad will play football in the future season. Pre-season is an excellent time for young players to shine and build a claim for a first-team berth, but if Amad is out for several weeks, he may not be given the same opportunity once the Premier League begins.

According to the Daily Mail, a number of clubs are interested in signing the Ivory Coast international. Leicester City, who were relegated to the Championship last season, are interested in signing Diallo after losing Harvey Barnes to Newcastle.

The Foxes, on the other hand, would have to fend off interest from two recently promoted top-flight clubs, Burnley and Sheffield United, who are also preparing prospective transfers. Burnley, led by Manchester City icon Vincent Kompany, could be an appealing option for Amad, with the Manchester City great assembling a youthful, exciting club at Turf Moor.

Should the forward recover from his knock/injury, he might play in several of United’s high-profile pre-season friendlies. The Red Devils will play Wrexham, Real Madrid, and Borussia Dortmund in the United States before facing RC Lens and Athletic Club in Dublin, Ireland.

Ten Hag is satisfied with how the preseason has gone thus far. “I think it’s very good,” stated the Dutchman. “I was really pleased with how active we were in and out of possession [against Arsenal].”

“That is how we want to play, and it is the only time of year when you can really work in training and translate it to games without consequences.” But we still want to win, and I think the lads demonstrated that.

“Of course, they’re all fantastic games.” We have to go, and it helps us improve, especially because our opponents are good. Arsenal is a formidable foe.

“They played incredibly well in the Premier League last season, so yeah, that’s good to match with them, then you’ll be better.”
