United had 22 shots on goal, but only three were successful, as they fell further behind in their bid to qualify for the Champions League next season.

Despite the fact that United has only lost once under Rangnick, they have drew four of their past eight Premier League games and have only scored two goals in four of his 17 games in command.

Watford has lost 17 league games this season, but will finish unbeaten versus United.

“Well, it feels like two points were dropped again, and we should have won easily,” Rangnick remarked. “We did everything except score; we had enough chances in both half to win that game, but we didn’t, and we dropped two points in a crucial game for the second time.

“We’d had our fill of opportunities. We had four clear chances in the first half, which would typically be enough to score one or two goals, and the second half was similar.

“At the end of the day, it’s all about efficiency and being clinical in front of goal, and this isn’t the first time this has happened. Apart from that, we were in complete command of the game, and we controlled it. They had one or two transitional situations in the final five minutes, but we fully dominated the game.

“As coaches and head coaches, our job is to assist the squad in creating adequate opportunities. We may ask ourselves what we could do to create more opportunities if we only have two or three in the game.

“However, we must have had enough clear chances today to win a game like this.”
