Former England midfielder John Barnes thinks Manchester United’s Marcus Rashford would be a “wonderful fit” for Liverpool, but dismisses the likelihood of him joining the club.
Rashford, who has five goals in 23 appearances for United this season, has been in poor form in recent months, sparking speculation about his future. He will be out of contract at Old Trafford in the summer of 2023, but the club has the option to extend his deal for another year.
In recent months, he has seemed a ghost of his former self, and his loss of form has been alarming, to the point where interim manager Ralf Rangnick confessed after the 1-0 FA Cup win over Aston Villa in January that he had no idea why he was struggling so much. However, using Rashford as an example, former Liverpool player Barnes has stated that not every player in strong form or showing signs of tremendous future promise instantly becomes a signing that Liverpool should make.
