Mike McGrath of the Telegraph tweeted the news this morning, simply saying:

Rangnick’s appointment was announced by the club on Monday, but he has yet to start work since he needs a work visa.

It has already been announced that he will not be registered in time to take charge of tomorrow’s first-team match against Arsenal, which will be managed by caretaker manager Michael Carrick.

Rangnick’s arrival at Old Trafford amid concerns about tightened Covid-19 travel restrictions means that won’t be an issue, and he’ll be free to take over as soon as the work visa is approved by the Home Office.

Rangnick has not been in a coaching job lately enough to be automatically qualified, as stated here yesterday. This will be up to an FA meeting.

The announcement of the German’s appointment has piqued the public’s interest.

He is regarded as one of football’s most influential philosophers and was one of the pioneers of the gegenpress tactic, which Jurgen Klopp employs.

The 63-year-disciple is Chelsea manager Thomas Tuchel.

Rangnick will have little time to turn around United’s troubles because his contract only lasts six months, after which he will be retained as a consultant.

His influence and work ethic, on the other hand, is expected to be a key part of the club’s strategy in the future.
