As Manchester United searches for their next permanent manager, Alex Ferguson has proposed an unexpected contender.
Ferguson is said to be a fan of Mauricio Pochettino but has suggested that if Pochettino rules himself out, Manchester United considers Carlo Ancelotti.
Pochettino is the current favorite for the post, but given that he is now in charge of one of the finest teams in the world, he may not want to come to Manchester for such a demanding job.

However, Ancelotti is currently at Real Madrid, where he is doing a terrific job, so he is unlikely to jump at the chance to leave Spain.
United are thought to be looking into short-term managerial options, with Ancelotti listed as a possible contender, while Pochettino and Erik ten Hag are the main long-term candidates.
Ralf Rangnick will have a big say in who obtains the permanent post, and the German is known to like both Pochettino and ten Hag.
Ten Hag is now the manager of Ajax, and while he has a great connection to the club, he will be aware of the constraints of managing in the Dutch league, as well as what he might potentially do if he came to a club the size of Manchester United.
