For all of the summer, the 25-year-old has been extensively associated with Manchester United, but the Red Devils have been unable to make a breakthrough with the player.

According to Sport, De Jong is still undecided about a move to Old Trafford, but he is open to joining Chelsea or Bayern Munich.

In his exclusive CaughtOffside Substack column, Fabrizio Romano goes into information about the Blues’ interest in the former Ajax man, emphasizing that they have not yet made a formal proposal.

According to Romano, United has reached a deal with Barcelona for De Jong for the time being, but the player’s unwillingness to transfer is holding things up. This might be a significant setback for Erik ten Hag, who would undoubtedly welcome the chance to work with his former player again.

This might create an opportunity for Chelsea, who may see De Jong as a perfect upgrade on Jorginho in the center of the park.

The Italy international has a year left on his contract with CFC and may be better suited to a return to Serie A after a mixed season in the Premier League.
