Manchester United has been advised that Frenkie de Jong does not want to join the club due to the uncertainty surrounding Cristiano Ronaldo and the exits of players such as Paul Pogba. Former Aston Villa captain Gabriel Agbonlahor has slammed Manchester United’s pursuit of the Barcelona star.
Throughout the summer, United has been after De Jong. Although a fee has been agreed upon with Barcelona, the player is determined to remain at the Nou Camp.
Erik ten Hag is familiar with the player from his time at Ajax. However, it does not appear that this is enough to persuade him to transfer to Old Trafford.
Ten Hag has reaffirmed that Ronaldo is not for sale, despite the fact that the 37-year-old has expressed a desire to quit the club. Meanwhile, Pogba has returned to Juventus after leaving the club at the end of his contract.
United, according to Agbonlahor, no longer has the clout it once had. And he claims that Pogba’s exit, combined with Ronaldo’s circumstances, is turning De Jong off even more.
