Man Utd could be about to sell another ‘scapegoat’ in January as well as Jadon Sancho

There are growing speculations that Manchester United might part ways with Raphael Varane, as the French center-back finds himself labeled as one of Erik ten Hag’s ‘scapegoats’ by former striker Louis Saha.

With rumors linking Varane to a £17 million move to Bayern Munich in the upcoming January transfer window, questions arise about the deeper issues affecting his role at Old Trafford.

Varane has not featured in the Premier League since the team’s 1-0 defeat against Crystal Palace on September 30, with Ten Hag attributing his absence to Harry Maguire’s strong form.

However, Saha suggests that there may be more to Varane’s situation than meets the eye, drawing parallels with previous instances involving Jadon Sancho and Cristiano Ronaldo, who faced consequences after falling out with the Dutch manager.

Expressing concern over the perceived scapegoating of Varane, Saha emphasized the need for the defender to be given a chance to regain top form, especially after recovering from injuries.

He questioned the decision to drop Varane, highlighting the importance of defensive stability and the potential stress it may put on the goalkeeper, particularly Andre Onana, who is new to the Premier League.

Saha acknowledged the managerial prerogative to make changes when the team is not performing well but underscored the critical nature of the defensive department.

The former Red Devils forward found it perplexing that Varane was omitted without a standout replacement in defense.

While Sancho’s potential exit has been linked to his refusal to apologize to Ten Hag, and Ronaldo faced contract termination after a controversial interview, Varane’s situation remains unclear.

Reports from Sky Germany suggest that Bayern is eager to secure a £17 million deal for the former Real Madrid player in January.

Varane, initially a key player since joining in 2021, played a pivotal role alongside Lisandro Martinez under Ten Hag last season.

However, with limited appearances in the current Premier League campaign, Varane seems to be heading towards an exit from Old Trafford, and a move to Bayern could offer a fresh start.
