Man Utd chief Richard Arnold agrees with Ralf Rangnick’s choice for next manager

According to rumors, Manchester United CEO Richard Arnold is behind Ralf Rangnick’s selection for the club’s next permanent manager. Many Manchester United players want Mauricio Pochettino to take over as Rangnick’s interim manager when his contract expires. Arnold, on the other hand, has come around to the opinion that Ajax manager Erik ten Hag is the right guy for the Red Devils.

United fired Ole Gunnar Solskjaer in November but immediately indicated that they would hunt for an interim manager while they sought the ideal long-term candidate.

Rangnick was brought in with the understanding that he would serve as a consultant at the end of the season.

As a result, the German will weigh in on who he believes would be the best manager for United.

And it appears that the former RB Leipzig manager has gotten his way.

According to the Sun, United CEO Arnold agrees with Rangnick that Ten Hag is the ideal candidate for the job.

Arnold took over as CEO on February 1st, succeeding Ed Woodward.

Pochettino was a target for Woodward to replace Solskjaer in November.

However, Paris Saint-Germain was unwilling to allow the Argentine to go in the middle of the season.

Many members of the Manchester United squad would love to see Pochettino join the club.

Rangnick, on the other hand, has won Arnold over with his thoughts on Ten Hag.

Ten Hag has been the manager of Ajax since 2017 and memorably led the club to the Champions League semi-finals in 2019 before falling to Pochettino’s Tottenham.

The Dutchman has won two Eredivisie titles during his time at Ajax and looks set to win a third this season.

If United is starting to get their house in order off the field, the same cannot be said for them on it.

On Saturday, they were held to a 1-1 draw at home by Southampton.

Rangnick’s team made a strong start but was unable to capitalize on Jadon Sancho’s maiden Old Trafford goal.

United is currently fifth in the Premier League table, with Arsenal and Tottenham Hotspur both having multiple games in hand in their pursuit of the top four.

Rangnick’s employment as a consultant, according to former Arsenal player Paul Merson, should be terminated if he is unable to obtain Champions League football.

Merson started on Soccer Saturday, “I don’t see him being there.”

“I think the way things are going right now if they don’t make the top four, I’d be surprised if he walked upstairs.”

“I understand that’s part of the arrangement now, but it’s not good for me.”
