Manchester United intends to make up to five acquisitions before the summer transfer window closes. So far, Erik ten Hag has signed Tyrell Malacia, Lisandro Martinez, and Christian Eriksen. Express Sport will now look at the Dutchman’s last signings as he attempts to capture the Premier League championship at the first time of asking.

A substitute goalkeeper

United is looking for a backup goalkeeper after allowing Dean Henderson to go temporarily.

The Red Devils loaned the England international to Nottingham Forest because he was unwilling to stay.

United now has proven and experienced goalkeepers in David De Gea and Tom Heaton.

Matej Kovar is also on the club’s books, but there’s a feeling the youngster needs another loan term before he can truly fight for the No. 1 jersey.

Sergio Romero has been linked with a return to Manchester United, barely a year after leaving the club.

Only time will tell if they are successful in bringing him back.

A right winger

United has spent a lot of money on right-backs in recent years.

They spent £18 million for Diogo Dalot in the summer of 2018, followed by a £50 million deal for Aaron Wan-Bissaka from Crystal Palace the following year.

However, there are concerns about both players.

Dalot is a good attacker but a question mark at the back, whereas Wan-Bissaka is the opposite.

Ethan Laird is scheduled to go on loan to Watford.

United have been linked with Norwich City’s Max Aarons and Inter Milan’s Denzel Dumfries, although no case is currently open.

A central midfielder

This summer, United is looking for a midfielder.

They saw Paul Pogba go for Juventus on a free transfer, while Nemanja Matic also left for Roma.

United’s main objective is Barcelona star, Frenkie de Jong, as has been widely reported in recent months.

If they fail to land the Netherlands international, they have three options.

Ruben Neves has fans at Old Trafford after thriving for Wolves in recent years.

As do Sergej Milinkovic-Savic and Youri Tielemans, whose futures at Lazio and Leicester are currently in doubt.

a step onward

United might still lose Cristiano Ronaldo this summer, with the Portugal star wanting to join a Champions League team.

But, whatever happens, they want a senior forward.

Darwin Nunez and Erling Haaland were targeted for United, but they ended up heading to Liverpool and Manchester City, respectively.

It will be interesting to watch what occurs, especially because the Red Devils will also need to replace Edinson Cavani.

A promising young forward

United also wants a youthful talent who can be developed into a superstar.

Mason Greenwood was once pegged for greatness, but it’s unclear whether he’ll ever play for the club again.

Benjamin Sesko is one name linked with a move to Old Trafford, but it will need a sum of £55 million to persuade Red Bull Salzburg to sell.

Antony is another example.

Ajax, on the other hand, has stated that they would require around £70 million to let the Brazil international leave.
