According to the Daily Mail, Onana is a possible possibility for United, along with Fiorentina’s Sofyan Ambrabat, who is also being pursued by Juventus.

Onana joined Everton from Lille last summer for £33 million and signed a five-year contract. West Ham had also expressed an interest in the player. On the last day of the season, he appeared 33 times as Everton averted relegation to the Championship.

United have signed André Onana, Mason Mount, and Rasmus Hjlund so far this summer, and with Fred set to go, the club is looking to strengthen its midfield options.

“Manchester United can confirm an agreement in principle has been reached with Fenerbahce for the transfer of Fred,” the club said in a statement on Friday night.

“The Brazilian international is set to transfer to the Turkish Super Lig, subject to medical, personal terms, and international clearance.” Our No.17 is slated to fly to Istanbul on Saturday to undergo medical exams.”

Fred joined United from Ukrainian side Shakhtar Donetsk in the summer of 2018 for a whopping £52 million and has since made 213 appearances for the club. He scored 14 goals during his stint at Old Trafford and last appeared in a pre-season friendly against Lyon in Edinburgh. According to BBC Sport, a transaction of €15 million has been agreed upon, with €10 million paid up front and the remaining €5 million in prospective add-ons.

Last season, the midfielder made 56 appearances under Erik ten Hag, scoring six goals as United won the Carabao Cup with a Wembley triumph over Newcastle United and also finished third to secure a place in this season’s Champions League. Other Turkish clubs, as well as United’s Premier League rivals Fulham, had expressed interest in him this summer.
