Manchester United’s manager, Erik ten Hag, is facing early-season challenges, having already lost five matches. Crisis looms on the horizon as the Red Devils have suffered defeats against teams like Tottenham Hotspur, Arsenal, and Brighton & Hove Albion, with their latest setback being a home loss to Crystal Palace.

This season marks the first time since 1989/90 that the club has lost four of their first seven fixtures. What’s more, it’s the first instance of two consecutive home league defeats since Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s final two matches at Old Trafford before his 2021 dismissal.

Despite the recent woes, sources indicate that Ten Hag’s position is secure, with reports suggesting he has “credit in the bank.” This refers to his successful debut season in English football, during which he secured the League Cup and guided United to a respectable third-place finish.

Following the disheartening defeat to Crystal Palace, Ten Hag, despite grappling with mounting injury concerns, asserted that there were no excuses for the team’s current poor form. Notably, defender Lisandro Martinez faces another metatarsal injury operation shortly after returning from a similar setback.

“I can provide reasons, but you will interpret them as excuses, and there are no excuses; we must win,” stated Ten Hag.

During the summer, the Dutch manager brought in new signings such as Mason Mount, Rasmus Hojlund, Andre Onana, Sofyan Amrabat, and Altay Bayindir.

Manchester United’s next challenge is against Galatasaray in the Champions League tonight.
