Ten Hag criticized Rashford’s conduct as “unacceptable.” Rashford attended a birthday bash despite canceled day off. Pressure is mounting on the manager. WHAT HAPPENED? Following a humiliating 3-0 loss to their rivals, the Dutch manager revoked his players’ day off on Monday.

However, Rashford still went ahead with his 26th birthday celebration that continued into the early hours of the morning. On Friday, the United boss disclosed that he had a conversation with the English star.

WHAT THEY SAID: “Yes, I am aware of it. I spoke with him about it,” remarked Ten Hag during his press conference before United’s match against Fulham on Saturday.

“It’s unacceptable. I told him, he apologized, and that is it. For us, it’s an internal matter.”

When questioned if Rashford was struggling to meet his expectations, amid criticisms of his performance this season, the manager came to the striker’s defense.

“He is highly motivated to make amends. I am well aware of the effort he is putting in. He made a mistake, but it doesn’t imply that he doesn’t fit in.

He made one mistake, but his off-the-pitch conduct, the way he lives, I am confident he is doing everything right to support the team.”

THE BIGGER PICTURE: Pressure is mounting on Ten Hag as Manchester United has endured its worst season start in 61 years.

His team followed up a derby day loss with a 3-0 defeat to Newcastle in the Carabao Cup on Wednesday.

Although the club’s leadership is believed to still support the coach, there are reports that some players are losing confidence in him.

WHAT’S NEXT FOR RASHFORD AND TEN HAG? Rashford will aim to break his two-month goal drought for Manchester United against Fulham on Saturday, alleviating the pressure on both him and his manager.
