According to Corriere Dello Sport, Ronaldo set the record after moving from Real Madrid to Juventus in 2018. However, it has been broken – by Paulo Dybala.

Dybala, 28, of Argentina, signed a three-year contract with AS Roma earlier this week. The forward is a coup for former Chelsea and Manchester United boss Jose Mourinho, who is attempting to win the Serie A title this season. And it appears that Dybala’s transfer has gone over well with fans as well.

In fact, the ex-Juventus star’s move has been so well received that he has broken Ronaldo’s record for the most shirts sold in Italy in a single day.

Although the report did not include any official data for jersey sales, the measures are based on how many shirts each club sold on the day after either player’s declaration.

Roma supporters will be hoping Dybala can put up equally mind-boggling numbers on the field. Despite being a five-time Serie A champion with Juventus, he has been plagued by injuries in recent seasons.

Despite this, he appeared in 29 league games last season, scoring 10 goals. Roma battled off interest from a slew of top clubs, including Manchester United and Arsenal, to sign him.

They even gave him club legend Francesco Totti’s legendary no.10 shirt, but he declined, opting instead for no.21. “I met with the general manager, and he asked if I wanted to take number 10, which of course is extremely important here because of what Francesco Totti did,” he said in his first interview as a Roma player.

“I believe that jersey and number should be kept by him because of what he symbolizes to the city and the fans.” I praised him since wearing such clothing needs a great deal of respect and responsibility.

“I still think of it as his shirt.” Maybe I’ll wear it one day, but for now, I’m content with the number 21, which is the number I wore when I first began to succeed. Hopefully, I’ll be successful here as well.”
