As the academy star prepares to recharge his batteries for the next season, Alvaro Fernandez has sent a message to Manchester United fans and Erik ten Hag.

While the Spanish teenager did not make his first-team debut last season, it was a significant step forward for him because he trained extensively with Cristiano Ronaldo and other renowned names. Fernandez was also an unused replacement in four Premier League matches near the end of the season.

His participation was in addition to Hannibal Mejbri and Argentina sensation Alejandro Garnacho.

Former interim manager Ralf Rangnick gave Hannibal and Garnacho minutes at the end of the season, and the former even started their last day outing against Crystal Palace in front of Ten Hag. It must be heartening for United manager Sir Alex Ferguson to see so many promising young players on the cusp of joining his side.

Several arrivals and departures are expected at Old Trafford throughout the summer season. However, there will be opportunities for the new generation, including Fernandez, to shine when the non-internationals return for pre-season training on June 17 before their first summer match against Liverpool in Bangkok.

Fernandez wrote in a message initially uploaded in Spanish on his Instagram profile: “For me, a fantastic and extraordinary season comes to a close, for what I experienced was unforgettable and full of one-of-a-kind events. It’s now time to rest and replenish your batteries.”
