With Aston Villa awaiting them at Old Trafford in the next fixture, Erik ten Hag may need to make significant changes to revitalize his team.

In this challenging period, one player seemingly on the fringes is Sergio Reguilon, as it appears that Erik ten Hag lacks trust in the Spanish player.

The injury woes for Manchester United this season are well-known, and the situation became more evident when Ten Hag opted for a 19-year-old debutant, Willy Kambwala, to partner Jonny Evans at the heart of the defense. Despite the risk, Kambwala performed admirably.

This bold decision speaks volumes about the manager’s confidence in Reguilon. Even with Luke Shaw capable of playing as a center-half, Ten Hag chose to experiment with Kambwala instead of utilizing Shaw on the left.

This is not an isolated incident, as Ten Hag has previously deployed Diogo Dalot out of position on occasions when Reguilon was fit and available on the bench.

The recurring trend raises concerns for a player Ten Hag signed, likely out of necessity. As a loanee, time is running out for the 27-year-old at Old Trafford.

Ten Hag has indicated the possibility of Reguilon leaving the club in January due to a break clause in his contract.

There are also rumors of interest from Borussia Dortmund, potentially leading to Tottenham recalling him for a transfer.

The signs increasingly point towards Reguilon departing Manchester, and we extend our best wishes to him if such a move materializes.
