As Erik ten Hag works on his squad for next season, the forward is only one of a handful of former and current Ajax players linked with a move to United. Of course, Frenkie de Jong and Jurrien Timber are already on his radar, and it’s been suggested that Antony will be joining them.

The Brazilian has drawn attention with his exploits in Amsterdam over the last 18 months, assisting Ajax to back-to-back Eredivisie crowns. He’ll be a member of his country’s squad for the World Cup in Qatar later this year, and reports claim he’ll have already arrived at Old Trafford by then.

According to Goal Brasil, Antony’s agents are traveling to Europe to negotiate a deal with United, and both the club and the player are interested in a prospective transfer. Antony’s old club Sao Paulo is expected to receive a sell-on price as part of the move, with Ajax reportedly proposing a fee of around £50 million. The 22-year-old might provide an option on the right side, which has proven to be a troublesome area for United as they look for new attacking options.

Meanwhile, Liverpool player Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain has been linked with a move to United. The former Arsenal midfielder has fallen down the pecking order at Anfield and is expected to leave this summer.

Direct transfers between United and their opponents are extremely rare, with notable examples of players having their transfers to either club disallowed. Given this, it appears doubtful that Oxlade-Chamberlain will join United at Old Trafford.

Regardless, talkSPORT reports that United is considering a move for the 28-year-old as they seek additional midfield options. United is thought to be’seriously keen’ in signing the England international, with Liverpool willing to accept £10 million for him.
