Against Leicester? When €100m Starboy will make his official premier league debut for Manchester United revealed
Antony’s possible Manchester United debut date has been confirmed after his deadline day transfer from Ajax.
United announced on Tuesday that they had reached an agreement with the Eredivisie club to transfer the 22-year-old. The agreed price could be as high as €100m after add-ons, but Ajax were paid €95m upfront.
The Brazilian was officially announced as a United player on Thursday, and Antony expressed his delight at joining the club. He said in his first interview at Carrington: “It is an incredible moment in my career to join one of the most iconic clubs in the world.
I am grateful to everyone who believed in me, especially my family, and all my coaches and teammates, because I couldn’t have got here without them.” Playing under Erik ten Hagax was perfect for me and my development.
“His style of football and coaching brings out the best in me, and I am excited by what he has told me about his plans and ambitions in Manchester. My time at Ajax has been fantastic and I will always be grateful for the trust they have placed in me, but now I am ready for the next challenge, and I am looking forward to joining my new teammates and playing my part in bringing success to Manchester United.”
Attention now turns to when he will make his debut for the club. United checked Antonio in today, but he will not arrive in time to face Leicester City this evening. The Brazilian’s work permit and visa will be sorted out in time for him to face Mikel Arteta’s Arsenal on Sunday.
