According to Sport, Manchester United and Barcelona are discussing a potential transfer involving Sergio Dest and Aaron Wan-Bissaka.
Dest would travel to Manchester as part of the mooted deal, while Wan-Bissaka would travel the opposite way. Barcelona coach Xavi Hernandez has proven that he is not convinced by Dest by not playing him in any of the club’s first three games this season. Wan-Bissaka is also not in Erik ten Hag’s plans at Manchester United and has been designated surplus to requirements.
Barcelona has been seeking to unload Dest all summer, while Manchester United has been hunting for a new right-back to compete with Diogo Dalot. According to the source, ten Hag is interested to reuniting with Dest, whom he previously coached at Ajax.
Xavi has also intimated that Dest is free to quit the Blaugrana and join another team this summer.

According to the Express, Barcelona wants £17 million for Dest, but United are hoping to entice the former La Liga winners into a swap deal with Wan-Bissaka.
The 24-year-old England international came in 2019 for a cost of £50 million but has failed to perform to expectations. Having said that, a move to Spain could be on the table for the Englishman before the transfer market closes on Thursday night.
Manchester United was previously interested in signing Frenkie de Jong but was unable to persuade him on personal terms. Following the arrival of former Real Madrid player Casemiro, the former Ajax midfielder has been ruled out as a potential alternative. Sport claims that United is keeping an eye on Memphis Depay, whose transfer to Juventus fell through last week.
It has also been revealed that Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang is a possible alternative for the English club, with Cristiano Ronaldo’s future uncertain. The Gabonese international, on the other hand, prefers to play under Thomas Tuchel, who is reportedly seeking to bring him to Chelsea.
Erik ten Hag has had a difficult summer, adding only five players despite obvious deficiencies in his squad’s quality. Tyrell Malacia, Christian Eriksen, Lisandro Martinez, Casemiro, and now Antony have all joined him.
There isn’t much time left in the transfer window, but if Manchester United can sign Dest, they should. Erik ten Hag’s methods are familiar to the 21-year-old, who might be a helpful signing.
