Two Star players included as Man Utd boss Erik ten Hag set to be missing five players for blockbuster Barcelona clash

Erik ten Hag, the manager of Manchester United, is presently preparing for Thursday night's crucial Europa League match against Barcelona.

Manchester United’s training photographs from Monday reveal that the club could be without up to five players for their Europa League match against Barcelona. The Red Devils go into Thursday night’s tense game hoping to advance to the competition’s last 16. And the tie is undoubtedly in doubt following last week’s 2-2 stalemate at the Nou Camp.

Manchester United earned a point against Barcelona, with both teams putting on a display for the spectators inside the Nou Camp.

Former Chelsea player Marcos Alonso put the Catalan giants ahead in the 50th minute, heading home from a corner.

But, a Marcus Rashford score and a Jules Kounde own goal put Manchester United ahead.

Raphinha’s looping strike went past David De Gea and into the bottom corner eventually earning Barcelona a point.

Since then, United has defeated Leicester 3-0, thanks to a brace from Rashford and a goal from Jadon Sancho.

On Monday, players also participated in a training session.

But, based on Getty photographs, it appears like United may be missing as many as five players for the match.

Christian Eriksen and Donny van de Beek did not participate in the session because they are currently injured.

Eriksen is anticipated to return in late April or early May, while Van de Beek is not scheduled to return until the summer.

Also absent were Harry Maguire, Antony, and Anthony Martial, who all missed the weekend’s triumph over Leicester.

United will face Barcelona in the hopes of completing a historic quadruple, which seemed unattainable earlier in the season.

Erik ten Hag took over a team in disarray after a disastrous season under Ole Gunnar Solskjaer and Ralf Rangnick last season.

Yet, the Red Devils have significantly improved since his tenure.

They are only five points behind Arsenal at the top of the Premier League table, despite having a game in hand.

United will face Newcastle in the Carabao Cup final on Sunday, hoping to end a six-year trophy drought.

They’re still in the FA Cup, having defeated Reading and Everton in the campaign thus far.

Barcelona defeated Cadiz 2-0 over the weekend, and Sergio Busquets, who was named to the bench for that game, has returned.

Ansu Fati and Ferran Torres provide Xavi with attacking options, while Ousmane Dembele remains out.

However, Barcelona will be without Pedri and Gavi, who will miss the encounter due to injury and suspension, respectively.

Meanwhile, Ten Hag was seen on Sunday offering a rallying cry to United fans inside Old Trafford.

Then, following the victory over Leicester, the 53-year-old revealed what he said.

“I said Thursday,” Ten Hag explained. “It’s an important game, so make sure you’re there to help us beat Barcelona.

He then remarked on the club’s supporters: “I appreciate the fans’ faith in me.

“I’m devoted to this club, and I’d like to be here, but it’s not in my power.

“What I can affect is the performance of this team, and I will do all in my power to perform as well as possible and hopefully push them beyond their limitations.

“We are dedicated to this club, and it is our club; it is in our hearts.

“But it’s not our job, we are focusing on football and performing, from our squad, that is what the players and personnel surrounding have to do.”
