According to PremierLeague.com, Alan Shearer praised Manchester United forward Marcus Rashford for his performance against Jurgen Klopp’s Liverpool at Old Trafford on Monday evening.
Rashford was named to the Premier League Team of the Week by the Newcastle United legend for his performance against Liverpool.
Erik ten Hag’s side won 2-1 thanks to the £200,000-a-week (Spotrac) England international forward scoring in the 53rd minute.
Rashford’s pace, according to BBC and Premier League commentator Shearer, was a headache for Liverpool all evening.
MANCHESTER UNITED VS LIVERPOOL: ALAN SHEARER ON MARCUS RASHFORD
Rashford “threatened Liverpool all night with his pace and his decisive goal got Man Utd’s season off to a flying start,” Shearer wrote on PremierLeague.com.
Liverpool, in our opinion, were unable to cope with Manchester United attacker Marcus Rashford’s astute movements and pace.
Liverpool has a strong defensive unit, but Virgil van Dijk and Joe Gomez were not at their best Wednesday night at Old Trafford.
The Reds gave Rashford and Jadon Sancho, both 24, space to run and time on the ball.
Rashford had one of his greatest outings in months, leading the line superbly and causing problems for the Liverpool defense throughout his time on the field.
The Englishman was extremely mobile, drifting out wide, threatening down the middle, and nearly scoring a second goal.
