Marc Skinner’s side set a new home attendance record against the Villans on Saturday afternoon, with 30,196 fans going to Old Trafford. And the hosts got off to a fast start, with skipper Katie Zelem scoring before 13 minutes to earn her 100th WSL appearance.

After 28 minutes, Leah Galton doubled United’s lead, latching on to a brilliantly weighted through pass from Ella Toone to put the Red Devils in complete control at the break.

In the second half, Marc Skinner’s team proceeded to show off their attacking skills. Alessia Russo made it three after 51 minutes, before Ona Batlle and replacement Rachel Williams chipped in to round out a thrilling United performance.

United now leads the WSL table on goal difference, with Arsenal and Chelsea also playing later in the day.
