DE JONG HOPES FOR MAN UTD TO TAKE A LEAP FORWARD
According to a report, Frenkie de Jong has indicated that he is finally ready to join Manchester United this summer.
Erik ten Hag has had his eye on the Barcelona player since taking over at Old Trafford. Undoubtedly, the Red Devils manager spent a significant portion of the summer window pursuing a deal for his former Ajax player.
Despite agreeing to a sum of almost £75 million following add-ons, De Jong was adamant about staying at Barcelona.
After failing to sign Adrien Rabiot, United eventually signed Casemiro, the Brazilian proving to be a third option.
Ten Hag’s acquisition of Casemiro from Real Madrid, on the other hand, has proven to be a masterstroke. Nevertheless, with the exception of their Sunday catastrophe against Liverpool, Casemiro has been a huge success in their midfield and the cause for their recent upturn in fortunes.
Ten Hag, on the other hand, has never given up hope of also landing De Jong.
United will make a concerted effort to re-sign the star this summer, according to talkSPORT.
And, with Manchester United on the rise under Ten Hag, De Jong is allegedly eager to make the switch.
According to reports, the Barcelona star has been impressed with the Red Devils’ progress since his former manager came them. Furthermore, they believe Casemiro’s presence is crucial. And the Dutchman believes he and his old El Clasico opponent can form a strong midfield partnership.
Man United’s first marquee signing was De Jong.
It seems like another hectic summer at Old Trafford.
And it appears that a deal for De Jong will be the first of three major acquisitions at Old Trafford this summer.
According to Football Insider, Ten Hag has been given permission to seek three large deals this summer.
While the story does not go into specifics, it is assumed that a new striker would be targeted alongside the new midfielder and right-back.
Victor Osimhen of Napoli is apparently their top target to lead the line. A deal for the Nigerian, on the other hand, may cost them around £120 million.
Tammy Abraham of Roma is apparently emerging as their backup option, with Ten Hag eager to sign a new No. 9.
With De Jong in midfield, Bayer Leverkusen’s Jeremie Frimpong is expected to fill the right-back spot.
To fund United’s summer spending spree and to comply with Financial Fair Play requirements, the club plans to unload six stars.
Anthony Martial, Donny Van de Beek, Scott McTominay, Dean Henderson, Brandon Williams, and Harry Maguire are all on the chopping block.
