The Red Devils have put themselves in a decent position to kick on after the World Cup break with Erik ten Hag guiding them to fifth in the Premier League, three points behind fourth-placed Tottenham with a game in hand.

Man Utd have only lost twice in their last 12 Premier League matches and they will be hoping to pick up where they left off with a last-gasp win over Fulham November 13.

But Ten Hag is still keen for more and wants the club to invest again in the January transfer window after spending over £200m in the summer.

Man Utd have saved money on Cristiano Ronaldo’s mutual contract termination but now they will need another centre-forward in January or the summer.

It would ideally be the winter window for Ten Hag with Marcus Rashford and injury-prone Anthony Martial his only current attacking options through the middle.

And now Spanish publication Nacional claims that Ten Hag has ‘asked’ the Man Utd board to provide him with €200m (£173m) to sign three players in January.

Ten Hag is ‘determined to continue creating a squad that suits his style and model of play’ and ‘will seek to consolidate his team through more signings’.

Man Utd ‘has €200m prepared’ for Ten Hag ‘to face’ the winter transfer market with Ten Hag ‘above all’ looking to strengthen their attack.

Benfica striker Goncalo Ramos is his ‘first objective’ with his price likely to be around €120m while he is also keen to add to his options out wide with PSV Eindhoven forward Cody Gakpo the next priority.

Gakpo, who starred at the World Cup as well as Ramos, would be available for around €80m, according to Nacional, while another of their targets Chelsea winger Christian Pulisic could be available on loan.

Man Utd striker Martial may have suffered with a number of injuries during his time at Old Trafford but former Red Devils midfielder Bastian Schweinsteiger insists there is no doubting his “potential”.

Schweinsteiger told United’s official website: “His potential is immense. I remember very well when he arrived at United, and he scored the goal against Liverpool in a special way.

“With him, you need to give him confidence. But you also need to push him sometimes, you know, and then he can be one of the best players.

“But he has to understand that first, you know, and that’s the job of the coaches and also the team-mates. If you play with someone like him, you want to see the quality of this player all the time. You expect it because you know what this player is able to do.”

Schweinsteiger added: “When I played with him, my goal was always to put him in the right position with the ball. So to give him the ball in the right moments where he can show his abilities the most. Like one against one, one against two, with the ball, facing the opponents’ goal.

“They are the moments he [is] waiting for, and then he’s actually producing. At the end of the day, what matters for him is goals and assists.”
