Bruno Fernandes, like other Manchester United fans, may have been dismayed to read that the club intends to sell James Garner.

The decision has infuriated supporters, who were already enraged following Saturday’s 4-0 thrashing by Brentford. United are desperate for a central midfielder due to a lack of depth.

Fans are concerned that if Garner leaves and the Reds fail to sign Frenkie de Jong or another top-tier reinforcement, the team will be in much more trouble. Fernandes seemed to be saddened by Garner’s departure.

During a Twitter Q&A in April, a supporter asked the 27-year-old which academy product he was most excited to play alongside. He replied, “James Garner.”

This was eight weeks before Garner’s promotion to the Premier League with Nottingham Forest via the play-offs, but Fernandes was clearly impressed by his form. Garner was crucial to Forest’s success, and many expected him to make the United first team this season.

Despite excellent pre-season outings following his summer injury setback, the club appears to disagree and is ready to let him go. Before the decision, there was speculation about the 21-year-old, which has only grown since the news surfaced.
