Erik ten Hag will decide Facundo Pellistri’s future at Manchester United this summer, according to the player’s agent.

Pellistri, 20, joined United in October 2020 for £9 million but has yet to play for the club. Pellistri began his career at Manchester United’s U23s before joining Deportivo Alaves on a six-month loan.

Pellistri played for United in pre-season last summer before being loaned out to Deportivo Alaves for the entire season, but his second stay in Spain was a failure. Pellistri played only 750 minutes last season, and United pondered terminating his loan early since it was evident he wasn’t getting minutes. Despite his struggles at club level, Pellistri has continued to play for Uruguay.

Pellistri has returned to United after his second loan with Deportivo Alaves, and his agent has now discussed his future. Pellistri’s agent, Agustin Alvarez, stated that the player has had offers to go out on loan again next season.

However, before considering any offers for Pellistri, Ten Hag will evaluate the player in pre-season this summer.

“He’s under contract until 2026.” He will join Manchester United for the pre-season retreat and the Asian trip,” Alvarez told Grand Hotel Calciomercato. “He [Ten Hag] will decide whether to stay or be loaned out.”

“In the latter case, we have several options between England, Italy, and Portugal, thanks to our performance with the Uruguayan national team, where coach [Diego] Alonso gave him the confidence that Alaves lacked.”

United’s pre-season begins on June 27.
