Currently sitting in eighth place, nine points off the top four, and with early exits from the Champions League and Carabao Cup, there’s a palpable sense that the season is slipping away for the Red Devils.

Fans are eagerly anticipating the summer, hoping for a fresh start under the incoming Sir Jim Ratcliffe regime.

Erik ten Hag’s team faces the daunting task of reviving their campaign, and the January transfer window emerges as a potential source of rejuvenation.

The striking department, in particular, is in dire need of reinforcements, ranking only above Burnley and Sheffield United in terms of goal-scoring across the league.

While Alejandro Garnacho has shown promise with three goals and assists in his last three league games, Manchester United is reportedly eyeing a move for PSV Eindhoven’s Johan Bakayoko.

The 20-year-old Belgian winger has impressed with his performances in the Eredivisie, and the Red Devils are said to be considering a potential £34 million move for him.

Sport1 journalist Christopher Michel highlighted United’s interest in Bakayoko, suggesting that the young talent could command a fee of around €40 million if he decides to leave this month.

Bakayoko follows the footsteps of PSV alumni Noni Madueke and Cody Gakpo, who made successful moves from the Dutch side to the Premier League.

Given Liverpool’s reported interest in Bakayoko, who was previously a target for United before Gakpo’s move to Anfield last year, manager Erik ten Hag must act decisively to secure the promising winger’s services.

The struggles of United’s current attacking options, including Antony’s lack of impact despite consistent selections, emphasize the urgency of strengthening the right flank.
