Manchester United needed to win all of their games to have a chance of finishing in the top four of the Premier League. We fell at the first hurdle, as is our wont.

Given how poorly we played on the day, a 1-1 draw at home to Leicester City could have been a lot worse. To be honest, we didn’t show up at all, being outplayed for the whole of the game.

Scott McTominay’s performance exemplified everything that was wrong with our game. The midfielder should have been sent off early on for a horrible tackle, and he did nothing productive throughout the game.

Passing was sloppy, tackling was weak, and he was out of position. McTominay’s inconsistencies continue to rear their ugly heads from time to time. McTominay can do a respectable job as a squad player. I just don’t think he’s good enough to start regularly for a team with legitimate title aspirations. That kills me to say because he’s an academy graduate who always gives his all for the cause.

Man United fans, predictably, took to Twitter in droves after being dissatisfied with the 25-year-performance old’s against Leicester City. It’s difficult to fight his corner…
