Emotions may take over football players, team management, and even supporters at times. The energy level rises, which can sometimes get the better of the person involved, resulting in inappropriate scenes on or off the field. Such an incident occurred during a quarter-final match of the Campeonato Capixava tournament between Nova Venecia and Desportiva at the Estadio Municipal Zenor Pedrosa Rocha stadium when Desportiva’s head coach Rafael Soriano was immediately sent off after he headbutted a female referee on the field.

An animated Rafael whacked the referee on the nose with his skull, according to a video that circulated online.

As soon as the half-time whistle blew, Coach Rafael raced onto the field, defying a referee’s ruling. This action resulted in him receiving a yellow card.

The warning also didn’t sit well with Rafael, who let out the strain on Marcielly Netto, the lineswoman who had come in between them.

Rafael’s act of aggression was later condemned in a club statement, which also announced that the team had parted relations with the coach.

The match finished in Nova’s favor as they won the second leg of the quarter-final 3-1, giving them a 5-1 aggregate across the two legs.
