According to rumors, Manchester United has prioritized the signing of a midfielder in response to Liverpool’s contract with Darwin Nunez. United are also interested in Nunez, but they are unwilling to compete with Liverpool, therefore manager Erik ten Hag will aim to recruit a midfielder as his first acquisition.

Ten Hag will have a difficult job rebuilding the Red Devils squad this summer. At Old Trafford, he hopes to improve in all areas of the field.

Nunez, a Benfica star, is garnering serious interest from European teams after having the best season of his career last season. United is intrigued, but according to The Athletic, Liverpool has reached an agreement on personal terms with the player.

Although a sum has still to be agreed upon with Benfica, United has taken note of Liverpool’s progress on the transaction. ESPN claims that they do not want to compete with its rivals and will instead prioritize the recruitment of a midfielder.

Paul Pogba and Nemanja Matic both left United at the end of their contracts. As a result, putting numbers in the center of the park is required.

Frenkie de Jong of Barcelona remains a priority target, and United are still trying to convince him to join them. Barcelona is eager to sell De Jong for roughly £70 million.

According to ESPN, United is still interested in West Ham and England star Declan Rice, but his asking price of more than £100 million has prompted the club to seek De Jong instead. De Jong is familiar with Ten Hag, having played under him at Ajax in the past.

United will continue to hunt for offensive reinforcements this summer. Cristiano Ronaldo will turn 38 in the middle of next season, while Edinson Cavani departed the club when his contract expired.

However, it appears that they will permit Liverpool to sign the Uruguay international. According to ESPN, United was quoted a sum of £100 million to sign Nunez, which they believe is excessive for the 22-year-old.

According to the source, Liverpool’s pursuit of the player will also be contingent on Benfica lowering their asking price. Sadio Mane wants to leave Liverpool this summer, thus the Reds are seeking attacking players.

Bayern Munich has already had a bid for Mane rejected. Liverpool is asking £40 million for the Senegal international.
