The Egyptian will be hoping that such a deal could propel him into the top ten highest-paid Premier League players since the 29-year-old is currently outside of that list.

Salah has two years left on his present contract, which pays him £200,000 a week, a figure he hopes to significantly increase with his new deal.

The lowest-earning in the current top 10 earns £290,000 per week, with the recent summer transfer window has had a significant impact on the ranking.

Five new players entered the top ten following summer moves to the English Premier League, with several incumbent occupants also due to sign new contracts.

As Salah attempts to break into the Premier League, Mirror Football examines the current ten highest-paid Premier League players according to Spotrac…

10. Paul Pogba – £290,000 per week

Paul Pogba of Manchester United is unlikely to stay in this position beyond this season, as the Frenchman has entered the final year of his contract.

Pogba is also negotiating a new contract extension, which would certainly boost him substantially up this list if he stays at Old Trafford.

The midfielder is still under the same contract he signed when he rejoined the Red Devils, putting him at the bottom of the top 10.

9. N’Golo Kante – £290,000 per week

N’Golo Kante, widely regarded as the best defensive midfielder in the world, is the highest-paid Premier League player in his position.

Kante joined Chelsea the same summer Pogba joined United, although he was given a new contract in 2018.

He has thrived under Thomas Tuchel, although he will enter the final year of his contract at the end of this season.

8. Raheem Sterling – £300,000 per week

Raheem Sterling may be struggling, but the Manchester City winger is still one of the highest-paid players in the Premier League.

Sterling joined City from Liverpool in 2015 and, like Kante, is in the final year of his current contract at the end of the season.

He signed his final contract in 2018 and can hope to be granted fresh terms due to his success on the international stage.

7. Jack Grealish – £300,000 per week

The summer transfer window of 2021 had a significant impact on the top ten list, with Jack Grealish becoming the first signing to break into the top 10.

Grealish signed Manchester City for a British record fee of £100 million, and he was paid accordingly.

Unsurprisingly, the England star has performed admirably for his new team, scoring one and assisting on another. His contract with the club runs until 2027.

6. Romelu Lukaku – £325,000 per week

Chelsea re-signed Romelu Lukaku this summer and promptly made him their highest-paid player.

That is probably unsurprising given that the Blues paid Inter Milan a club-record amount to lure the striker back to the Premier League.

Only five players earn more than the Belgian superstar, whose contract runs until the summer of 2026.

5. Raphael Varane – £340,000 per week

Raphael Varane, the second of five Manchester United players in the top ten list, signed from Real Madrid in the summer transfer window.

Varane was signed to be Harry Maguire’s long-term partner in central defense, and he has started their last three Premier League games together.

The Frenchman is the highest-paid defender in the Premier League and is under contract until 2025.

4. Jadon Sancho – £350,000 per week

Manchester United players dominate the top half of this list, with Jadon Sancho signing a lucrative contract after leaving Borussia Dortmund.

Sancho is the highest-paid winger in the Premier League, a position befitting the £73 million United paid for his services.

The England star has had a difficult start to life at Old Trafford, but with a contract until 2026, he will have plenty of opportunities to demonstrate his brilliance.

3. David De Gea – £375,00 per week

After facing a challenge from Dean Henderson last season, David De Gea has re-established himself as Manchester United’s first-choice goalkeeper.

The Spaniard is by far the highest-paid goalkeeper in the Premier League, with Chelsea’s Kepa coming in second with a weekly income of £155,000.

De Gea signed his final deal in September 2019, which will keep him at the club until 2023, with a one-year extension option.

2. Kevin De Bruyne (£400,000 per week)

Manchester City star Kevin De Bruyne, who signed a new contract this summer, is the only non-Manchester United player in the top five.

The Belgian is the highest-paid midfielder in the Premier League, which reflects his status as one of the finest in the league.

De Bruyne’s new contract will keep him at the Etihad Stadium until at least 2025 when he will have made 200 league matches.

1. Cristiano Ronaldo – £510,000 per week

Who else than Cristiano Ronaldo could top this list, having established himself as one of the greatest players of all time during stints at Manchester United, Real Madrid, and Juventus?

On transfer deadline day, the Portuguese superstar returned to United for a cost of £13 million, with Juventus desperate to shed his lucrative deal.

He just signed a two-year deal with the Red Devils, but he has the option to extend it by another year.
