As Sevilla fell 1-0 to the resurgent La Liga heavyweights, Martial started and played 82 minutes. With a sixth consecutive league victory, Pedri sealed the deal for Barcelona, who moved up to second place. Sevilla and Martial, on the other hand, have gone four games without a win in the league and are now in fourth place.

The Frenchman was permitted a temporary swap during the January transfer window after finding game time difficult to come by this season, and he impressed on his home debut against Elche. However, the 26-year-old has so far been unable to duplicate his early success.

Martial has yet to score in La Liga for the club and was forced to miss time due to a muscle issue. Julen Lopetegui has chastised the striker at times for his performances, as the Spaniard tries to get the best out of a player who cost United approximately £50 million in 2015.

Martial had a difficult time against Xavi and his Barcelona team on Sunday night. On another night, when a right-footed attempt struck reputed United target Ronald Araujo on the arm, he might have won the away club a penalty, but those pleas were turned down.

However, Araujo and former United defender Gerard Pique kept Martial and his teammates quiet as United fans expressed their displeasure.
