Man Utd takeover: Qatar make three promises to Man Utd fans as details emerge after Barcelona draw

Qatar is apparently promised three things in exchange for purchasing Manchester United. Private investors from the Middle East are preparing to make a bid for the club, and the Glazers are willing to sell. While there has been talking of the Americans perhaps staying, it appears to be an improbable prospect at this time.

Since 2005, the Glazers have owned Manchester United.

They did, however, disclose in November that they were reviewing their options – at a time when massive investment is required both on and off the field.

Qatar is regarded to be in a pole position to purchase United, despite objections from some quarters.

Now Sky Sports News claims they’ve made three pledges as they attempt to buy the Red Devils and put an end to the Glazers’ reign.

It has been stated that the first thing they are willing to do is to invest in the team.

The Glazers have spent a lot of money during their time as United owners, but almost all of it has come from the club, not them.

Things would be different in Qatar, with the Middle Eastern country eager to provide Erik ten Hag with the transfer riches he requires to rebuild the squad.

A second commitment is an investment in Old Trafford.

The stadium, which has long been a fixture in English football, has begun to show symptoms of wear and tear in recent years.

It certainly pales in comparison to the huge arenas occupied by clubs such as Tottenham Hotspur and Arsenal, both of which have relocated in the last 20 years.

A third thing they’re willing to bring is money to invest in Manchester itself.

There has been conjecture that the nearby areas may benefit from the Qatari funding, which could also work in their favor.

At now, it’s uncertain who will be United’s future owners.

However, Qatar appears to be in a pole position to purchase the club, even though Sir Jim Ratcliffe is also interested.

Ratcliffe has long supported United and hopes to leave a legacy at the age of 70.

He already missed out on Chelsea, and only time will tell whether this happens again.

Meanwhile, those data have all emerged following United’s 2-2 Europa League draw with Barcelona on Thursday night.

Ten Hag believed his team dominated the game and was unlucky not to win.

He said: “I think we commanded the game, apart from maybe 15 minutes in the first half, we had some issues, but in the rest, we were directing the game and we had so many chances.

“I was a little bit unhappy that at half time it was 0-0 since we could have scored and the opportunities they had we created by ourselves.

“But, I thought it was a fantastic game. There are two attacking teams.

“I think it was a Champions League game, even more than that, therefore I really loved the game. It finished 2-2, and we have to finish it at Old Trafford.”

He also paid homage to Marcus Rashford, saying: “Of course, I will give credit to Rashford because he is in excellent form, but the entire squad performed admirably.

“I thought that was a pretty terrific team effort.”
