‘He’s not for sale unless on ONE CONDITION’: President rules out £25m ‘Bruno-Like’ man joining Manchester United after Ten Hag plead

Addressing the speculation, Cairo made it unequivocally clear that any thoughts of a January bid for Buongiorno, including interest from Manchester United, are unfounded.

The president’s message provides a sigh of relief for Torino supporters, with Buongiorno’s future secured at least until the summer.

Football Transfers reported that Manchester United had added Buongiorno to their list of center-back targets, attracted by the reported £25 million price tag, which stands in contrast to the higher fees associated with other defensive targets.

Cairo emphasized Torino’s stance, stating, “I said it last week and I can only repeat it. He is not for sale.” With a contract extending until 2028, Torino faces no pressure to sell.

Buongiorno, who rejected interest from Atalanta and Nottingham Forest earlier in the season, signed a contract extension in August.

“In August, when he expressed his intention to stay with us instead of going to Atalanta, I told him, ‘For us, you are and will be very important.’ Now, I repeat the same thing even more firmly. I’m not selling him,” Cairo affirmed.

Buongiorno, who has scored three goals from center-half in Serie A this season, has represented Italy twice.

With financial constraints at Old Trafford, Manchester United’s pursuit of a potential replacement for Raphael Varane or an upgrade over Victor Lindelof may need to be deferred until the summer, coinciding with the expected confirmation of Sir Jim Ratcliffe’s minority takeover.
