Over the last 18 months, the West Ham midfielder has established himself as one of the Premier League’s top performers for both club and country. The Hammers beat Sevilla on Thursday to earn their place in the Europa League quarter-finals, and the midfielder put forth another superb display.

Rice’s recent play has sparked rumours that he could move during the summer transfer window. Both United and Chelsea have been connected with the 23-year-old, with the former seeing him as a priority target due to their midfield woes.

Rice is valued at £100 million by West Ham, who obviously want to maintain their prized asset. The prolonged instability at Chelsea, following the UK government’s decision to penalize Roman Abramovich, has cast doubt on a potential relocation to west London.

The England international has been persuaded by Merson to quit the London Stadium this summer. Old Trafford, according to the former Arsenal midfielder, could be the ideal place for him.

“Declan Rice should leave West Ham this summer while the iron is hot,” Merson told the Daily Star. “This season, he’s taken his game to another level and is now playing like N’Golo Kante, having an impact on both ends of the pitch.” Declan Rice is unlikely to play for West Ham United next season. For months, they’ve been punching well above their weight.

“Where could he possibly go?” It is contingent on what happens at Chelsea and who purchases the club. Manchester United is a good option, but will they be able to compete in the Champions League? Rice wants to play in that position.

“They play Tottenham this weekend, which is always a significant game for West Ham, but the Europa League match against Sevilla was much larger.”

“West Ham have beaten Tottenham, and to be honest, I’m not sure how Tottenham allowed that to happen.” West Ham will be kicking themselves if they miss out on the Champions League by a point or two. They’ll be scratching their heads as to why they didn’t go out and get another striker in January.”
