Second January Deal – Man Utd learn transfer truths on Kylian Mbappe deal as £60m offer for lethal Plan B comes to light

Manchester United is apparently looking to sign a Serie A striker as a much more feasible option than PSG superstar Kylian Mbappe.

Over the last 24 hours, reports have surfaced that the Red Devils are considering luring France forward to Manchester to fill the inevitable vacuum created by Cristiano Ronaldo’s impending departure.

The United icon sparked outrage after his shocking interview with Piers Morgan.

His shocking interview set the blue touch paper on fire. Indeed, Ronaldo has slammed Erik ten Hag, the Glazers, and the club in general.

Former Manchester United teammates have it as well. Wayne Rooney and Gary Neville have both been cleaned out by an old comrade.

Given everything that has been said, it looks that an acrimonious exit is simply a matter of time.

And, even if Ronaldo is no longer a regular starter, the Red Devils will have a void to fill in their assault with his departure.

However, there are two main concerns with the 23-year-present old’s transfer.

First and foremost, his asking price exceeds £150 million. Meanwhile, his salary would be higher than Ronaldo’s present weekly income of £500,000.

Erik ten Hag is also attempting to foster a ‘team’ culture at the club as opposed to an ‘individual’ one. While bringing Mbappe’s talent to United would be a big boost, it may also cause divisions within the squad over his contract and status in the game.

A more plausible choice is Napoli’s prolific hitman.
As a result, Ten Hag is anticipated to prioritize signing Napoli’s Victor Osimhen as a cheaper alternative.

The Nigeria international is having another productive season with the Serie A club. He has already scored 10 goals in 14 outings across all competitions.

His overall record with Naples is 38 goals in 76 games, which means he scores every two games.

Osimhen, who has 15 goals in 22 Nigerian caps, will also be substantially less than Mbappe. Indeed, he is projected to cost around £60 million.

However, United is not the only one interested. Chelsea, Tottenham Hotspur, and Liverpool are also interested in the powerful attacker.

It’s also uncertain whether United will try to sign Osimhen in January or next summer at this point.

Given that the Italian team is still in the Champions League and will not want to sell, the latter alternative appears far more feasible.

United returns to action in the Carabao Cup last 16 against Burnley on December 21.
