It hasn’t been a secret for long that Ajax manager Erik Ten Hag will be taking over at Manchester United next season, and that is due to become official very shortly with an announcement.
United fired Ole Gunnar Solskjaer in November, and Ralf Rangnick has been filling in ever since, but the German is likely to move up as an advisor at the conclusion of the season.
After considering a number of possibilities, including Mauricio Pochettino, United have decided that Ten Hag is the man to lead them forward, a decision that the club must ensure is correct.
Manchester United have contracts and paperwork ready for Erik Ten Hag after reaching a full deal with the Dutchman last Monday; all that remains is for Ajax to give the green light to sign them.
According to Fabrizio Romano, after everything is completed, an official announcement should be made soon, and it will mark the beginning of a new era at Old Trafford, which United fans will hope brings some change.
The Manchester club has been a shambles of late, and it appears like they will miss out on Champions League play next season unless both Tottenham and Arsenal falter between now and the conclusion of the season.
The club’s hierarchy has made terrible judgment after a bad decision, and despite spending the most money in the Premier League, they remain far behind the top two in the rankings.
Man United must get this next management appointment correct, as that individual must put as much paper over the cracks as possible until everything behind the scenes is resolved since the club will not progress until that is done.
The Red Devils will be hoping that Ten Hag is that man; if not, who knows where the Manchester club will go from there?
