After Erik ten Hag met with the club’s administration on Monday, Manchester United will await the full details of Cristiano Ronaldo’s unauthorized interview before deciding on any penalty.

Ronaldo’s stunning attack on Ten Hag and the club has left United very unhappy. In an interview with Piers Morgan, the striker declares that he has “no respect” for the manager, accusing the club of abandoning him and attempting to force him out.

Ten Hag and his players were prepared to fly back from London following their last-gasp 2-1 victory against Fulham when word reached the club via Ronaldo’s camp that the player had given an incendiary interview. United chose not to respond immediately on Sunday night, not wanting to detract from a morale-boosting victory that they thought highlighted the squad’s passion and camaraderie.

However, negotiations accelerated on Monday as Ten Hag, CEO Richard Arnold, and football director John Murtough plotted the best reaction with co-chairman and owner Joel Glazer. At 2 p.m., a statement was made indicating that the club will make a decision later in the week, maybe after the whole interview.

Manchester United issued the following statement: “Manchester United takes note of the media coverage regarding Cristiano Ronaldo’s interview.”

“The club will assess its response once all of the facts are known.”

“Our focus remains on preparing for the second half of the season and maintaining the momentum, belief, and unity that the players, manager, staff, and supporters have built.”

Ronaldo has been a peripheral figure under Ten Hag, starting only four of 14 Premier League matches, but Ten Hag will be under pressure to ensure the five-time World Player of the Year never plays for the club again.

Many fans were outraged by Ronaldo’s attack, particularly his remarks about Ten Hag, and his remarks come just weeks after he refused to come on as a substitute in United’s 2-0 win over Tottenham Hotspur at Old Trafford, another example of a memorable victory being overshadowed by the 37-year-actions. old’s

United will also be under pressure to adopt a tough position in light of some of Ronaldo’s charges against the club.

There is enormous respect in the United dressing room for what Ronaldo has accomplished in the game, but his recent behavior is alleged to have disappointed a number of players.

According to one well-placed insider, several players will “not shed a tear” if and when Ronaldo leaves, adding that his antics were destabilizing at a time when the club was pulling together and displaying better solidarity following last season’s shambles.

Another insider claimed that the team’s locker room was “not allowing Ronaldo’s tantrums to distract them” and that a number of players had already moved on.

Since taking over at Old Trafford in May, Ten Hag has managed a difficult situation admirably, beginning with Ronaldo’s absence from their pre-season tour for personal reasons and his request to depart in the summer, but the issue has grown progressively serious.

United will not be back in action until the week before Christmas, when they face Burnley in the fourth round of the Carabao Cup, as the domestic season has been stopped for the World Cup. They then face Nottingham Forest and Wolverhampton Wanderers in the Premier League before the transfer market opens on January 1.

It remains to be seen whether United would take more extreme measures before then. Ronaldo has been named to Portugal’s squad and has waited until now to air his concerns at United, knowing that he would be out of the club for several weeks.

Ronaldo missed United’s 4-2 Carabao Cup triumph over Aston Villa on Thursday, as well as the Fulham encounter, after informing the club that he was ill.
