In the Super Cup final, the Blues defeated Villarreal 1-0 to give them their first piece of trophy of the season.

 

They followed it up with a 3-0 win against Crystal Palace in their Premier League debut, followed by a 2-0 triumph over Arsenal at the Emirates Stadium in their next match.

 

Romelu Lukaku was outstanding in the London derby, scoring a brace of goals.

 

The Belgian, who was making his second Arsenal debut after joining from Inter in a £100 million deal, tormented the Gunners’ defense throughout the game.

 

In what was a dominating performance, he scored the first goal for his team.

After watching the Dutchman’s performance against the Chelsea star, Jamie Carragher believes he will ‘fancy his chances against him.

 

According to football.london, after Chelsea defeated Arsenal, he made the following statement on Sky Sports: “Liverpool will not make any changes for the visit of Chelsea, but Van Dijk is the only player, at least in the Premier League, who will feel optimistic about his prospects against Romelu Lukaku.

 

 

 

 

 

“This is going to be a fantastic competition, but I have no doubt that Liverpool will be aiming to push through to the midway point of the season.

 

“What we saw from Lukaku yesterday does not imply that he would behave in the same manner against every defense.

 

“It was a case of poor planning. A lot of that was triggered by Arsenal.” He is an absolute handful and a terrific striker, and he will score a lot of goals for the club.
