The Brazilian arrived in a deal for up to £70 million with add-ons over the summer after Ten Hag failed to sign Barcelona’s top target Frenkie de Jong.

Ten Hag became dissatisfied in his attempt to sign the Dutch star and was forced to go elsewhere.

This pursuit resulted in the big-money signing of the 30-year-old from Real Madrid. However, the seasoned defensive midfielder has yet to make an impact at Old Trafford.

Casemiro has yet to start a game this season, with Scott McTominay preferred.

The Scotland international has been crucial to United’s four-match winning streak. Despite the fact that he was supposed to make way for the club’s new arrival.

Danny Murphy, a former Liverpool midfielder, believes McTominay deserves a lot of credit for his efforts.

“[McTominay] has kept Casemiro out of the team in the last several games,” Murphy told talkSPORT.

“I realize it’s a winning streak, so he’s sticking with the same lineup, but I believe he’s been terrific.” His drive to get back into defensive positions and support his defense, the number of crosses he heads out, the number of blocks he makes, and the number of runners he tracks all scream teamwork.

“Talk about putting in a shift.” If you want to have a poor opinion of him, go watch United’s last three games and watch him.”

Casemiro’s push for United begins.
United will play Real Sociedad in their first Europa League group encounter on Thursday night.

Casemiro and fellow benchwarmer Cristiano Ronaldo are both set to start. After only making cameo appearances in recent weeks, the trio is in desperate need of time.

Former Aston Villa attacker Gabby Agbonlahor feels Ten Hag will give him a piece of his mind if he isn’t playing consistently.

“I feel like Casemiro, give it one more game and he’ll be wondering ‘Hang on a minute, what’s going on here?'” Agbonlahor told Football Insider. Get me in the team, you signed me for £60 million. I don’t care how well McTominay is playing; you’re not signing me to sit on the bench.”

“It just goes to show that when a big player comes in, other players occasionally raise up their game.”

“I believe McTominay has improved his game.”

While Casemiro should play versus Sociedad, he may receive his first taste of Premier League action sooner than he thinks.

McTominay has received four yellow cards in six Premier League appearances this season. One further caution will result in a one-match ban, potentially giving Casemiro his chance to shine in England’s top division.

When Manchester United returns to Premier League action on Sunday, they will face Crystal Palace.
