Man Utd plotting bid over £50m to sign ‘next Sergio Busquets’ despite Casemiro’s impact

Despite Casemiro's impact, Erik ten Hag of Manchester United may be looking for a new midfielder as they consider a deal for Martin Zubimendi, dubbed the "next Busquets."

Despite Casemiro’s stellar achievements, Manchester United is reportedly considering activating the ‘next Sergio Busquets’ £51.5 million release clause.

In his homeland, Spanish international Martin Zubimendi has been regarded as the heir to Busquets’ reign. And a succession of strong performances for Real Sociedad has piqued the eye of European football’s who’s who.

Zubimendi has a £51.5 million release clause, which United wants to activate, according to Sport Witness. However, rumors say that the Red Devils have yet to approach the Basque club about a prospective move for the midfielder.

Barcelona is also seeking a deal, as rumors remain that Busquets will leave Camp Nou this summer.

Busquets is rumored to be heading to the MLS, with David Beckham’s Inter Miami apparently leading the chase. And Spain’s Sergio Busquets could be joined in the United States by Lionel Messi, who, like the Barcelona star, is out of contract in the summer.

Zubimendi stated in October: “Right now, I’m not concerned about Barcelona. I have to concentrate on what is coming, which is a lot and very difficult.”

United’s interest in Casemiro corresponds with his good performances for both club and country.

At Old Trafford, the Brazilian has turned back the years, skillfully holding the midfield base for Erik ten Hag. Ten Hag could look to play the pair together at first base, as many managers did with Scott McTominay and Fred.
