The German, who took over at Stamford Bridge in January last year when Frank Lampard left, has been connected with the empty role at Old Trafford in recent weeks as a result of the chaos caused by Russia’s invasion of Ukraine. The UK government strongly sanctioned Chelsea owner Roman Abramovich earlier this month, resulting in a slew of punishments, some of which have now been rescinded.

However, doubt surrounds the German’s future, despite Chelsea’s hopes of being the subject of a big-money takeover before the end of April. Tuchel has openly stated his devotion to the post, but depending on the circumstances, particularly how long it continues, he may have itchy feet and question his future at the club.

As a result, there has been an uptick in calls from Manchester United fans for the club to try to sign the former Borussia Dortmund and Paris Saint-Germain manager. Former Manchester United midfielder Rio Ferdinand agrees, stating that it should be a no-brainer for the Reds to try to entice him to Old Trafford.

“I don’t care, I’m taking Tuchel,” Ferdinand told Vibe with Five. “If the roles were reversed and Man United were there and we had Tuchel as a sitting duck at our football club, there is a chance you could get him, assuming he is a sitting duck based on the reports we’re hearing.

“If that were the case, and the roles were reversed, Roman and the empire would be at the door. They wouldn’t have even knocked on the door; they’d just come around the side and take him.

“Tuchel would be the one since he has demonstrated his pedigree. He has previously demonstrated that he can come into this league, adapts quickly, wins the Champions League, galvanizes a squad, get them playing, establishes a culture, builds togetherness, and he has discipline.”
