Rio Ferdinand explains why Rangnick will turn Manchester United star into a top player
Rio Ferdinand believes that the organization provided to Manchester United by Ralf Rangnick will allow Fred to continue to thrive.
Fred scored the game-winning goal for Manchester United against Crystal Palace over the weekend, kicking off Ralf Rangnick’s tenure with a win.
Rangnick’s first game showed promising signals, with United dominating possession and maintaining a clean sheet at Old Trafford.
Fred’s goal was a pleasant surprise, given it was only his sixth in a Manchester United shirt since joining the club in 2018.
Rio Ferdinand, a former Manchester United defender, was delighted by his performance and applauded his self-assurance.
“What you get with Fred is an attitude you’d love to get in any young kid,” Ferdinand stated on Vibe With Five. He is completely oblivious to the noise. He simply goes out and plays.”

In comparison to past managers, Ferdinand outlined how the 4-2-2-2 formation that Rangnick is bringing to United will assist the Brazilian midfielder.
“The major issue was that he was jumping out of team shape,” he explained. When he saw a ball, he’d run away without thinking about what was behind him. You need that awareness in that position where he plays in front of the back four. That was something he never had.
“Now that the club is so structured, if he does leave, other players will step in since there is a mutual understanding and they will be more strategically adept.”
United has only beaten Rangnick once, and it’s crucial not to get too excited. Crystal Palace were neither the most aggressive nor the most clinical with the chances they created.
Nonetheless, United supporters have been deprived of reasons to be optimistic for the past two months, so seeing Rangnick come in and make an immediate impact after only two training sessions was quite encouraging.
United plays Young Boys in the Champions League tonight, with qualifying and the group’s top spot already secured.
